[OA] Division/School SDS Data Export for Local DBMS use.

Hi All,

Is anyone interested in having data exported/translated from the Sask
Learning SDS XML formats so this could be imported into division/school
database systems for analysis, reporting, etc.

I would export this into a CSV format (Comma Separated Format) for import
into normal spreadsheets and databases (either desktop or server based),
(although other formats could be used).

If there is some interest, I will do this in conjunction with upcoming
Open Admin for Schools development with a similar outcome.

This would be perl scripting that would generate/translate XML files for
use in conjunction with the Sask Learning Batch Interface (and of course
the Open Admin development would be real-time), but with similar
outcomes... usable data for local DBMS use.

The data available would be any data available from either the XML 1.1 or
XML 2 query systems of Sask Learning. (ie. enrolled students, course
enrollments, etc. I would think this might be interesting at the division
level for our larger division...)

If interested, please let me know. Otherwise I won't bother with this
(although the OA development will go ahead).

BTW, the upcoming 2.20 release of Open Admin has several rewritten SDS
scripts for Class Query, Class Enrollment/Synchronization, Mark
Submission, as well as Student Enrollment Synchronization. It will also
have an updated transporation management section (developed for the UFT
Charter schools in NYC).

Thanks,

Les Richardson
