[OA] Open Admin - 2.50 Release - New Fields

Hi All,

Here is a brief outline of the role of the additional student fields added 
in the 2.50 release:

1. email_par1, email_par2 - these additional email addresses along with 
the existing student email field would allow us to add an email system to:

a) Notify parents in the event of any discipline or attendance issues 
(from either a teacher or teachers or central office and school 
administrators) along with a response requirement.

b) Email attachments of notices of school events, school newsletters, etc.

c) Email teacher homework assignments (automated out of the daybook) or 
assessments scores (automated out of the gradebook).

d) Other routine emails via simple web interface to select groups of 
parents, students, etc.


2. name_knownas - for student common names or nicknames (if not normally 
using given name).

3. name_prefix, name_suffix - prefixes and suffixes for student names in 
different locales.

4. group_alt1, group_alt2, group_alt3 - alternative group memberships 
for students outside of grade and homeroom. (ie. special education or 
other pullout programs, etc.)

5. billet - billeting information in case of emergency. Should these have 
separate fields?

6. childcare (childcare_name, address, phone1, phone2) - childcare contact 
information.

7. internet_type - type of parental permission allowed for information 
release (ie. picture on web page? name on page, etc)

8. Separate Parent Names - par1_lastname, par1_firstname, par2_lastname, 
par2_firstname). Separate parent names so can handle sorting, etc. more 
gracefully in reporting, etc.


Not all of these of course will be useful immediately. The 2.50 release 
will include these values in templates (although some will be hidden). 
Reports (and report updates) to take advantage of these will follow.
